i was in a video game. the room i was in is unfamiliar to me in real life. in the game, the goal was to find 9 blue and red ornaments and send bells down a hole. there was a monster that was looking for the me entire time. he looked human, but had thick brown hair covering his body. i was able to hide under some objects by pressing the letter "e" that would pop up when i could interact with an object. I also had the ability to crouch. one time, i hid under a table to avoid the monster, but he saw me go under and blindly moved around his arm under the table to try to reach me. i was able to avoid his arm and he went upstairs, but as i was peeking out from the table and watching him go upstairs, his eyes were locked on me as he continued walking upstairs. then i went downstairs, and i recognized the room as the basement of my old house in real life. the bells i was holding made noise that the monster could hear, so he came downstairs, too. there was nowhere to hide, so i crouched behind something and hoped he wouldn't see me. i started to feel scared and i tried to leave the game, but i couldn't. i decided that the only way to get out of the game was to face the monster, so i did. however, when i faced him, he started running away from me, and i thought it was because i had collected all 9 ornaments. i cornered him and he tried to push me away. the monster started to look more human, like a bald man with a mustache. he was speaking to me in a different language. it sounded like french so i asked him "do you speak french" in french. he said no, then told me the name of the language. i started to feel a connection with him. then i followed him upstairs to the garage. the garage also looked like the one from my old house in real life. he opened the garage door and i could see that it was late evening, where the sun was almost completely down. i recognized my old neighborhood in real life when i looked outside. he was about to leave and i asked him "can i kiss you?", which he didn't hear because i said it a bit quietly. then i asked him the same question again a little bit louder and he said "no". i looked around to find him, but he disappeared and i could not see him.
Dreams often reflect our inner thoughts, feelings, and experiences, and can serve as a way for our subconscious to process emotions or events. This particular dream contains several rich and intriguing elements that can be interpreted in various ways.
Video Game Setting: Being in a video game may suggest that you are feeling detached from reality or that you perceive your life as a series of challenges or levels to complete. You might also be finding ways to cope with stress or uncertainty in your life, as video games often involve overcoming obstacles.
Monster: The monster in the dream can symbolize fears or anxieties that you are facing in your waking life. The fact that it is humanoid but beastly suggests that these fears may be deeply personal, possibly linked to someone you know or a part of yourself that feels threatening or out of control. The encounter indicates a struggle with these fears.
Hiding and Avoidance: Your attempts to hide from the monster reflect a desire to evade confrontation with your fears. The interaction where you successfully elude the monster suggests that you may have some strategies for managing your anxiety, but as the dream progresses, it also highlights the limitations of avoidance.
Connection and Communication: The shift from fear to a connection with the monster, particularly when he starts to look more human and you engage in conversation, suggests that you may be working toward confronting and understanding your fears. This transformation indicates that what you once viewed as frightening can be understood and integrated into your life.
Old House: The familiar yet altered spaces, such as the basement and garage of your old house, may signify nostalgia or unresolved issues from your past. These rooms often represent aspects of your psyche or past experiences that still influence your current state of mind. The garage, often a space for storage and tools, could symbolize potential and readiness to face your challenges.
Kissing: The desire to kiss the monster indicates a longing for intimacy or acceptance, even with aspects of yourself or your fears that you find intimidating or unappealing. The refusal may point to a realization that not all aspects of your fears can be reconciled or embraced — some may remain distant.
Looking Out at the Neighborhood: Recognizing your old neighborhood at dusk could suggest a longing for connection or familiarity as you transition into a new phase of life. The evening setting might symbolize uncertainty or impending change, as it’s the time when day transforms into night.
Overall, this dream seems to encapsulate a journey of confronting and understanding your fears, reflecting a desire for connection and acceptance both with yourself and with the challenges you face. The process of trying to navigate these emotions, especially your responses of fear and then a shift to connection, suggests personal growth and a path toward integration and acceptance of both your vulnerabilities and strengths.
